Westcliff has been my home for most of my life. My career path has led to different types of office work. In the mid 60’s I joined the National Association of Port employees in London, leaving to travel abroad for a while.
On my return I held various posts within different Civil Service Departments and this in between working for several years as a Matron at a well known Public School for boys in Surrey. For a period of time I worked freelance as a Personal Assistant and was engaged to cover secretarial duties for the store director of Keddies Department Store in Southend. A further seven years was spent as a receptionist to a local doctor.
Following marriage, family life was chequered, with my son being an all important preoccupation in my life. Gardening has always been an enjoyable activity for me with other interests being the theatre, photography, travel and now joining family occasions with my granddaughter.
As a retired person I am able to take a more active interest in the local community and would like to endeavour to make a difference in any way possible to improve awareness on issues and facilities affecting us over 55’s and so I am delighted to support the Older Persons Assembly and be a member of the committee team.
